Name: | Zaraki Kenpachi |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Mar 3 |
Personality: Kenpachi’s life is mostly focused on one thing – how much he enjoys fighting. The first point we see him at involves blood everywhere, the name Kenpachi is given to the best fighter in Soul Society, he gains his position as Captain of the 11th division by killing the previous Captain, he charges in looking for a fight against the strongest Ryoka (outsider), Ichigo… Kenpachi loves fighting. He doesn’t turn down a good fight, and he constantly challenges Ichigo to a rematch.
He likes to relax. While his division functions and he does train his men, Kenpachi has nothing against sitting down with a bottle of sake and/or someone else. One omake that I consider to be IC has him sitting on a rooftop with several members of the 11th Division (his) and Kyouraku Shunsui, drinking as everyone makes comments about the bald head of one of his underlings. He’s also been seen stretched out on the floor, not doing anything, near Yachiru as she snacks.
Speaking of Yachiru, Kenpachi’s a little indulgent when it comes to her. It seemed for quite a while that he had a poor sense of direction and couldn’t find anything on his own. And then, when not with her, he started showing up exactly where he wanted to, like right behind Ichigo. When he’s with Yachiru it takes forever to get where he wants to go, since she’s constantly misdirecting him. In one notable scene he’s racing a train, far away from the battle, as she tells him to go faster and that they’re going the right way. He also showed up with excellent timing to where Tesla and Nnoitra are ready to kill Ichigo, jumping into the battle at the same time as the other captains arrived, showing that he didn’t get lost.
While he’s not much for philosophy, Kenpachi does have a clear view of how to live – face it head on. Live, fight, and die, and deal with them all the same. Don’t be a coward. Don’t dwell on the boring, have fun. He actually sends Yumichika out on a mission because Yumi is the only one not busy having fun (as Yumichika is doing paperwork.)
Kenpachi’s got street smarts. He’s not book smart, not at all, but he can read people and situations and adapt. Zaraki was the only one to notice something was up with Tousen. He knows how to think on his feet and work out a situation. In mid-fight he can adapt his strategy, evidenced during his fight with Nnoitra.
Arrogant is another word that describes Kenpachi. He’s a peasant from the worst area of Rukongai, and has a blast mocking one of the nobles of Sereitei, Byakuya. Kenpachi knows he’s good and likes to make sure others know. Who else would give themselves the ‘best fighter’ title, after all? He charges in, he shows that he doesn’t have much respect for rank or class, and he’s loud.
He’s not patient and isn’t too fussed with social niceties. He’ll be proper enough, but he knows he’s lower-class and isn’t worried about it. Grammar isn’t a big deal to him. Nor are manners. He approaches things in a pretty straight-forward fashion, not bothering with subtlety.
